If you’re finalizing seed decisions for 2027, PVL05 and CLL16 belong in the conversation. PVL05 takes the Provisia system a step forward, and CLL16 is a proven Clearfield performer.
PVL05 near Kaplan, LA.
PVL05 is a long-grain Provisia® variety developed by the LSU AgCenter. It builds on earlier Provisia lines with improved yield potential and stability, very good milling and blast resistance. With moderate lodging resistance and a balanced agronomic profile, it gives growers a reliable Provisia option.
CLL16 near Bernie, MO.
CLL16 is a long-grain Clearfield® variety developed by the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. It has proven to be one of the more consistent performing pureline cultivars across a wide array of geography and irrigation strategies. It is later in maturity than most varieties and hybrids on the market, giving growers an opportunity to spread out rice harvest. It contains the Pi-ta blast resistance gene and has found a niche in the South Louisiana rice and crawfish rotation due to its combination of high yields planted later in the season and producing excellent forage that lasts through the crawfish season. It also costs less to plant in 2027, after we lowered its price for next season.
